Mesta Park Pet Registry

Register your pet with the MPNA pet registry by filling out our Pet Registry form.

If you have ever lost your pet you undoubtedly know how hard it is to find it. If you have ever found a pet sometimes it is even harder to find its home. Recently, a friend of mine who lives in Heritage Hills called and asked whether Mesta Park had a pet registry. She had found a dog and was looking for its owner. She told me about the pet registry which had been formed in Heritage Hills — one person to call to help this pet find its owner. What a great idea!

I remember a couple of years ago when my 18 1/2 year old, half blind Shih Tzu found his way out of my yard. I searched frantically for hours, put up over 50 posters, and luckily he was returned 36 hours later. But if I'd had a place to call, to get the word out by email to other pet owners, and if the person who had found him had been able to call a pet registry to find me, 36 hours of worry could have been avoided.

If you lose your pet or if you have found one, I will work in cooperation with the Heritage Hills Pet Registry representative through our combined databases to help reunite pets with their owners.

If the people of this neighborhood would put a tag on they're pets, with the dogs name and owners home and cell phone number on it, it would be simple to find the owner. I have lived here for 30 years, and many animals without tags have showed up at my door. My dog has two tags on her with all the above mentioned info.

Thanks,
Curtis

Tags on a dog or cats collar are a good idea. That said, in the last 25 years that I have lived in Mesta, my dogs have all knocked the tags off of their collars at one time or another. They have been known to slip their collars entirely before joyfully running down the street away from me. Because I've been lucky enough to be home when those things have happened, I still have my dogs today.

A pet registry is a great idea as a helpful backup to responsible pet care. It would seem a blessing to have my neighbors looking out for my dogs, if they should ever get out of my fenced yard without their I.D. That said, I do not believe that the registry should be used as another way to regulate the residents of our neighborhood. As the registry is voluntary at this point, I assume that isn't the aim.

Just saw a yellow lab with a blue collar and a blue tag heading north on Francis from 17th. I tried for a little bit to get him to come, but he kept going the other direction. I saw him b/c he was sniffing my dogs through the fence, and I almost caught up to him when he stopped to sniff through another fence at a dog. Wearing a blue collar--sorry I couldn't catch up to him to get a number, but posting here just in case someone looks and knows this dog.
