The intent of the Security Board is to change from our current provider to the Oklahoma City Police. The hang-up has been the tremendous amount of administrative work that was required. However, someone from Heritage Hills has located a service (Neighborhood Services Corporation) that handles administrative work for gated communities and neighborhoods such as ours.
The cost of using police patrols will be higher, but we are confident that many of the people who have had complaints about our current provider will gladly pay more. The benefits of using the police are that they are armed, and are trained what to do in case they have to use force, they can intervene and arrest criminals, and their marked cars have a deterrent effect on crime. Heritage Hills is very much in favor of this change, and I hope that we as a neighborhood are too.
There will be an open meeting (actually, our meetings are always open to anyone who wants to come) of the Security Board on January 10th. See our events calendar for more information.
There are other advantages of using the Neighborhood Services Corporation to do the billing and list keeping. They also update the neighborhood homeowner lists every quarter, using the county assessor information, so we can always get a current list of owners.
Please give me some feedback. I want your opinion about a possible change of provider and if you are willing to pay for this improved service. You can email security@mestapark.org with your comments.
